Q: how long have you been practicing yoga?

A: since janurary 2011

Q: what are some healthy meal/snack ideas?

A: breakfast-

Q: how to do you cope with weight gain?
A: i just remind myself that someone at my weight, cannot be fat. that i am no where near fat. i’m not getting fatter, i’m getting healthier. remind yourself that, and that you are going to look so much better. i keep in mind that being at a healthy weight is so much more rewarding then being sick. and i remind myself to be strong. i can’t fulfill my goals if i’m still consumed by my disorder.
Q: how much weight did you gain, and how long did it take you?
A: so far, as of now, i have gained around 25 pounds. it took me a good six-seven months.
Q: how many calories were you eating to gain?
A: between 1800-2000 per day.
Q: how long have you been suffering from anorexia? how did you start to recover?
A: it started getting serious in april 2011, and progressed to my worst point which was basically all summer (june-july) until, i finally decided to try to get healthy on my own. i was trying hard, but my old ways were to embedded into my head. one day during school (beginning of september), i was called down to guidance and a teacher claimed i had gotten drastically skinny. so they took me to the nurse, and when they saw my weight they called my mom and i’ve been seeing doctors and a nutritionist ever since.
Q: how do you find the strength to recover?
A: i tell myself how i need to be healthy to follow my dreams. my dreams will make me happy in the future, and that is very important me. i can’t be a successful yoga teacher if i’m underweight, and mentally sick. i let that fuel me through tough days, because it is so important to me. you have to find your own reason to recover, whether it be a future dream or not, it has to come from you. you have to be strong no matter what, and trust me, you are strong enough.
Q: what are some of your fear foods?
A: i don’t really have fear foods. i fear not knowing how my food is made when i go out to eat. not really even the calories in it, but the quality of the food. every time i order something on a whole wheat product i can’t help but wonder if it’s made with hfcs or hydrogenated oils. i think it’s better i don’t know though. it allows me to enjoy it more, by keeping myself ignorant with things like that. also, sodium when going out to eat worries me. mostly just not knowing how my food is prepared. that scares me more then the food itself. i try to not deny myself anything, but i don’t find myself craving things that would typically be feared. ice cream, fries, burgers, fast food, etc. don’t appeal to me anymore. i do get scared when i have to go out to eat with family/friends and it’s some place i’ve never been and they don’t offer healthy things, other then like a salad. that gets my anxiety going. it’s things like that, that i can hopefully fight off in time.

Q: were you flexible before starting yoga?
A: no way! i couldn’t even touch my toes

A: i don’t know, and it doesn’t matter. i am healthy and happy and that is more important

A: i’m far along in my recovery but, i still have my struggles everyday

A: i don’t know currently, because i don’t count them anymore :)
